In case any one of you crazy kids is feeling especially generous this holiday season, here are a few things I would enjoy:
- Target gift certificates
- An umbrella I won’t inevitably lose
- A&E’s Horatio Hornblower series on DVD (Two reasons: #1 - Great interpretation of C.S. Forester’s classic novels, which focus life/war at sea – from a British perspective – during the Napoleonic conflicts. #2 – Hot captain.)
- Black socks (Who can’t use black socks?)
- A ban on all stupid car commercials (Scratch that. A ban on all car commercials.)
- Someone to tell me when “EID” is, the holiday commemorated by this US Postal Service stamp
- No snow…ever
- Jammies that don’t shrink in the wash
Thank you!
EID-UL-FITR is celebrated on the first day of Shaw'waal, at the completion of Ramadan. Shaw'waal is the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. The Eid-al-Fitr is a very joyous day; it is a true Thanksgiving Day for the believing men and women. On this day Muslims show their real joy for the health, strength and the opportunities of life, which Allah has given to them to fulfill their obligation of fasting and other good deeds during the blessed month of Ramadan. This year it fell on 15 November.

Randy -- Thank you! I appreciate your very thoughtful response, as my Google.com searches were coming up blank. Unfortunately the letter combination "EID" yielded many-a-result. I love learning about interesting holidays, as it gives me yet another reason to celebrate. Happy holidays to you!
